Strigidae Bubo: the CAL
We have already made it to section 12! Where did all the time go? Six sections remain, but many may decide they have reached their perfect size with the completion of the faces.
This week we will be working through the tricky area. Chains will be your best friend and your worst enemy this week. You may feel overwhelmed or even a bit lost at times this week. Just take a deep breath and work one stitch at a time.

Section 12
Round 81 color 2
Join with a standing trc in any corner sp, (trc, ch2, 2trc) in same sp. *Trc in next 3 sts, dc in next st, hdc in next st. BLsc in next st. [Ch1, sk 1 st, hdc in next st. Ch4, trc3tog over the next 3 sts. Ch1, hdc in next st (this will be the middle long st). Ch1, trc3tog over the next 3 sts. Ch4, hdc in next st] 16 times. Ch1, sk 1 st, BLsc in next st. Hdc in next st, dc in next st. Trc in next 3 sts. (2Trc, ch2, 2trc) in next corner sp* 4 times, omitting last corner sp. Join to the first st with a slst. FO.

Round 82 color 4
Join with a standing sc in any corner sp, (ch2, sc) in same sp. *Sc in next 7 sts. FLhdc in next st of R80, sc in next st of R80. [Ch5, sc2tog with the first leg in the first trc3tog of R81 and the second leg in the second trc3tog of R81. Ch5, sc in sk st of R80] 16 times. FLhdc in next st of R80. Sc in next 7 sts. (Sc, ch2, sc) in next corner sp* 4 times, omitting last corner sp. Join to the first st with a slst. FO.

Round 83 color 1
**Special Stitches**
Puff st- YO, insert hook into st. Pull the yarn through the st. Bring the loop up to match the same height as the previous st. There should now be 3 loops on your hook. YO, insert the hook into the same st. YO, pull the yarn through the st. Bring the loop up to match the same height as the previous loop. There should now be 5 loops on your hook. YO, insert the hook into the same st. YO,pull the yarn through the st. Bring the loop up to match the same height as the previous loop. There should now be 7 loops on your hook. YO, insert the hook into the same st. YO, pull the yarn through the st. Bring the loop up to match the same height as the previous loop. There should now be 9 loops on your hook. YO, pull the yarn through all 9 loops on your hook. Chain 1 to close the puff st. This chain 1 does not count as a st. To make a standing puff, simply start it as a standing stitch.
Join with a standing puff in the first hdc of R81 between the two trc3tog of any side. *[Ch9, sk (ch5, sc, ch5), puff in the hdc of R81 between the two trc3tog] 15 times. Ch12, slst in the back at the base of each of the center two trc of the corner sp of R81. Ch12, puff in the hdc of R81 between the trc3tog* 4 times, omitting last puff. Join to the top of the first st with a slst. FO.

Join with a standing sc in any corner sp of R82, (ch2, sc) in same sp. *Sc in next 9 sts of R82. [Sk next st, hdc in ch1 sp of R81. Working in front of the ch of R82, sc in next st of R81. 3Trc in next sc2tog of R82, FPdc around puff of R83, 3trc in the same sc2tog of R82. Sc in next st of R81] 16 times. Sk next st, hdc in ch1 sp of R81. Sc in next 9 sts of R82. (Sc, ch2, sc) in next corner sp* 4 times, omitting last corner sp. Join to the first st with a slst. FO

Round 85 color 1
Join with a standing sc in any corner sp, (ch2, sc) in same sp. *Sc in next 10 sts. (Hdc, trtr)tog with the first leg in the sk st of R82 and the second leg in the third sk st of R79 after the 7trc shell.
[Ch4, working behind R84, sc in the puff of R83. Ch4, sc in the hdc of R84 made into the ch1 sp, also catching the ch of R83. Ch4, sc in puff of R83. Ch4.
(Sc, trtr, trtr) tog with the first leg in the sk st of R82, the second leg in the first sk st of R79 after the long sc, and the third leg in the third sk st after the 7trc shell of R79] 7 times.
